How it began…

     I wrote these books for myself while I grew up with undiagnosed ADHD and Autism. I didn’t connect with most of my peers. The only time I didn’t feel alien was when I was immersed in fantasy. Playing ‘make-believe’ and creating other worlds to visit was the only way I could connect with any of my classmates, even well into high school. What began as an escapist daydream grew into something much, much bigger than I ever expected. My story turned out to be a whole book, then it multiplied into 3 and then 6! Then it grew into a multiverse with a comic. I'm trying desperately to contain it, but I cannot guarantee I will resist the temptation to start animating it or even turning it into a video game now that I am teaching myself animation AND a new 3D modeling software for game-making...

What I set out to create:

​

1.    An escape for an autistic 15-year-old who spent her whole life feeling out of place.

​

2.   I wanted to portray the toxicity of social expectations and the weight of how others define you. As an undiagnosed Autistic kid, this plagued me the most.

​

3.  The struggles faced in these books very much mirrored my own struggles with my declining mental health, struggling to understand my identity, and sinking into the darkest part of my psyche.
